Hands on Learning

 

We believe that children all learn by trying. Our team at KidActive encourage all of the children in our care to explore and wonder. We devise stations designed to be both open-ended and goal-oriented, to allow our students to explore and feel pride in achieving special goals.

Steam

Many of the ways that we encourage growth is through steam projects. There is on most days at least one station that is steam oriented. We also have one station that is coloring, painting or play dough. The last station is imagination station and we set up different activities that encourage play, imagination, friendship and emotional regulation. Each week we do at least one fun science experiment to help get the kiddos noticing and wondering.

Curriculum

We utilize Experience Curriculum that is used for all ages from 6 months to 8 years of age. This allows the students to work on all the skill sets they need for each developmental milestone.

We use Education.com to support our lessons. We have an extensive selection of educational resources at our disposal.

Through Education.com each student will have the ability to utilize a specialized application set up to assist in developing their learning even if they are not in class.

Conscious Discipline

We are a part of a program called Concious Discipline. We work right from the beginning with every child to help them feel safe and connected. Learning about feelings and emotions is a big part of our curriculum at KidActive. We teach this through different activities, examples, play-acting and lower child-to-teacher ratios so we can help these special people learn to navigate their social-emotional growth and development.

The best part of all, the children are playing and having fun. They learn best by having a good time and exploring and wondering.

 

Assessments

We do a baseline assessment for every child two years and older. We monitor each student's learning and communicate with each family how their children are doing through Brightwheel and verbal communication.
